Who We Are
San Franciscans for Peace and Justice is a nonpartisan group of San Francisco residents seeking to restore peace to our city by ending homelessness, drug deaths, and untreated severe mental illness.
Erica Sandberg is a consumer finance and political journalist who has lived in San Francisco since 1988. Erica is a frequent guest on local and national news shows, and has hosted a number of podcasts and programs, including Making it in San Francisco that ran on KRON-4. Her stories have appeared in a wide variety of media outlets, including SFGate, U.S. News & World Report, and National Review. She is a regular contributor to City Journal, where she covers crime, politics, and quality of life issues.
Erica founded San Franciscans for Peace and Justice out of a deep love for her city, and recognizes the profound crisis it is currently in due to years of bad policy. 712 of her fellow residents died from illicit drugs in 2020. Many more are addicted and suffering. Thousands sleep outside in open drug scenes, where they become emotionally and physically sicker each passing day. Meanwhile, property crime is rising, violent offenses are escalating, and businesses are closing. The impact is devastating and far-reaching.
However, Erica believes that commonsense solutions to these problems exist and can be enacted. These include shelter first programs, enforcing drug trade laws, encouraging addiction treatment, and providing psychiatric care to all who need it. The movement is powerful and gaining strength: residents from across the political divide are standing up and demanding change from their lawmakers. San Franciscans for Peace and Justice is committed to helping the city become safe, clean, and vibrant for all.
